Marlys has over 25 years of experience in case management and is the founder and president of SCM Associates, Inc. In 1992, she was the first recipient of the Case Management Society of America’s Case Manager of the Year award. She has served CMSA in multiple roles including local and national president. Marlys has provided consulting services to many private and public health insurers. She is a published author and a frequent lecturer who has represented the field of case management on television and in video. Marlys is an active Rotarian, volunteering in the local community.
Amanda has worked in workers’ compensation since 2017, beginning as a field nurse case manager in the San Francisco Bay Area. She brings extensive experience managing complex and catastrophic injuries and is CCM certified. With a focus on holistic care and improved quality of life, Amanda also serves in leadership roles, where she is dedicated to mentoring and developing nursing teams. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, reading, and being outdoors.
Born and raised in Hawaii, Sakura has been a Registered Nurse for over 24 years. Her extensive clinical background includes Geriatric care, specializing in the Alzheimer’s and Dementia community, hospice, palliative care, IV infusion, quality management, oncology and multi-systems care in medical-surgical specialty units. In 2019, Sakura began practicing as a Legal Nurse Consultant acquired from the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants and has been a workers compensation case manager for the past 4 years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children, family, and friends, cooking multicultural dishes, hiking, body surfing, snowboarding, shuffle dancing, singing karaoke, and practicing martial arts.
Alisa graduated with her BSN from Bethel College in 1996. Almost 28 years later she has expanded her nursing platform to include experiences in: ICU, Trauma, Burn, Organ Donation, Home Health, Hospice, Worker’s Compensation (telephonic and field case management) and now Catastrophic Nurse Case Management. Through her nursing journey Alisa has developed a comprehensive ability to provide knowledgeable, compassionate, and objective education to patients, families, and clients. This expertise elevates her level of care and will be the foundation of a professional relationship built on trust, communication, and care excellence. She collaborates to facilitate medical rehabilitation, enhanced function, and an improved quality of life for her patients.
Cheryl is a certified case manager with over 28 years of nursing experience. She has worked in case management for 13 years. Her case management experience includes working in acute rehabilitation. Her case management focus has been collaborating with insurance carriers, coordinating and facilitating the individual rehabilitation treatment plan to assure appropriate care, functional outcomes and ensure a smooth transition to the next level of care. In her leisure time, she enjoys going to the movies, reading, and watching documentaries.
Nancy is a California native born in Los Angeles and raised in Seal Beach eventually returning to raise her family. She attended UCSB (BA Physical Education), SDSU (MA Exercise Physiology) and University of Oklahoma (BS Nursing). The majority of her working career has been in healthcare including field sales, marketing, and business development. Her nursing experience includes Medical Surg/Oncology, Telemetry, Pain Management and Acute Rehab. Certified in ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy, Medical Surgical Nursing and Rehab Nursing. She is married with two children. When not at work she enjoys the outdoors hiking, backpacking, kayaking, sailing, snow skiing and gardening.
Paula has worked in health care for 33 years. She initially earned her Licensed Practical Nursing certificate from Northwest Community College before continuing her education at Holmes Community College and graduating with honors with her Associates Degree of Nursing. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree from Mississippi University for Women where she graduated, cum laude and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society for Nurses. Paula has over 25 years’ experience with Occupational Medicine and Workers Compensation. She has an extensive clinical background in Orthopedics, wound care and Return to Work Programs. Her Case Management experience includes Home Health Case Management, Occupational Health and Safety Manager for a large manufacturing company.
Marivic, a combination name of Maria Victoria, has worked in the nursing field for over 28 years. She has an extensive clinical background in medical-surgical, telemetry, progressive care, and internal medicine. This experience made it possible for her to work as a travel nurse and continue to develop her clinical skills. For the last 11 years, Marivic has gained invaluable experience as a case manager where she focused on communicating, coordinating care, and building relationships with her patients, as well as home health, hospice, health plan, specialty care hospital, and telemedicine providers. Her goal is to be a certified case manager and continue to provide cost effective quality care. For work-life balance, she enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, spending time with family, and staying connected with friends.
Georgia has been in the nursing profession for over 30 years. She has functioned in many roles that include bedside nursing, educator/trainer and as a supervisor/director. She has been a case manager for a third-party administrator (TPA) for over 11 years and was certified in 2014. In that role she has provided education and support to catastrophic and high-dollar claimants. Georgia assisted clients to navigate the health care system to ensure optimal care while facilitating the most cost-effective options. She prepared detailed reports for the TPA, stop-loss carriers and employer groups. Georgia recently completed a 2-year training and received her RIT (Reinsurance Integration Training) certification given by Interlink. She lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for over 20 years and now resides in Louisiana close to family. Her greatest joys are her children, nephews and great nieces and nephew.
Jeanisa is an RN case manager with over 12 years of nursing experience with 10 of those years dedicated to case management. Jeanisa’s clinical background includes acute/critical care, home health, disease management, specialty managed care and workers’ compensation case management. Her focus has been on managing teams, developing creative solutions, training nurses, and providing the best care while minimizing costs. She has successfully worked to improve case manager performance, job knowledge and retention. When she is not working, she enjoys cooking classic Italian recipes, hiking, traveling and gardening.
Evie has been with SCM since 2013. As Case Management Technical, Training & Compliance Coordinator, she works with case managers on compliance, ensuring that they are timely in their tasks. She conducts new and ongoing training for employees. She also helps with front-line IT issues to see if problems can be resolved prior to involving the IT Department, helps test IT changes and updates, as well as reviews the case manager’s computers for compliance. She creates and edits the patient reports which are submitted to the carriers. While away from work, Evie loves spending time with her grandkids, hiking and exploring regional parks, as well as traveling.
Robyn joined SCM in 2013 as an assistant to both Janis and Kelly. She has been focusing on supporting nurse case managers streamline all aspects of each case by: coordinating appointments and travel, inputting critical notes, completing authorizations, and contacting providers as needed. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Linda joined SCM in 2012. Primarily, Linda functions as the office administrative assistant and bookkeeper, although her versatility encompasses a greater range of administrative work. She is particularly appreciated as a gifted staff party planner. In her spare time Linda enjoys spending time with her family, cooking a great meal, or enjoying a book. She will tell you she loves to work, but we know she also secretly looks forward to her yearly family trip to Hawaii.
